Is there a municipal land transfer tax in Durham Region?

The short answer
No. Only Toronto charges a municipal land transfer tax in Ontario. Buyers in Oshawa, Whitby, Ajax, Pickering and Clarington pay the Ontario tax only. On a $900,000 home that saves $10,000 for a first time buyer and $14,475 for anyone else, compared with buying in Toronto.
