Whitby real estate: homes for sale and what they sold for

Local notes

Whitby sits between Ajax and Oshawa with a historic downtown around Brock and Dundas Streets, a harbour at Port Whitby, and Brooklin growing fast at the north end. It has long been the town families move to for the schools and the quiet streets.

Getting to Toronto: Whitby GO at Brock Street and Victoria Street on the Lakeshore East line, Highway 401 to the south, and Highway 412 running north from the 401 to the 407. The 412 made Brooklin and the Taunton Road corridor a reasonable commute.

Durham Region's head office is on Rossland Road in Whitby. Lakeridge Health has a Whitby site. The waterfront at Iroquois Park and the Whitby Shores area is the lake side of town.

Most of the housing between Rossland and Taunton was built from the late 1980s through the 2000s: Williamsburg, Pringle Creek, Rolling Acres, Blue Grass Meadows. Brooklin and Taunton North are newer, and Brooklin still has its own village centre on Baldwin Street.
